UP Government to Launch Second Phase of School Chalo Abhiyan from July 1 to Boost Student Enrollment

The Uttar Pradesh government will launch the second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan from July 1 to ensure that every school-age child is enrolled in an educational institution. The campaign will also focus on facilitating smooth transitions between different levels of schooling and reducing dropout rates.

Education Department Issues Fresh Guidelines

Additional Chief Secretary for Basic and Secondary Education, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, has directed all District Inspectors of Schools and Joint Directors of Education to implement the campaign effectively. Officials have been instructed to ensure the timely completion of various educational programmes and administrative tasks.

Headmasters Assigned Admission Responsibilities

Under the new phase of the campaign, headmasters will be responsible for ensuring the admission of students moving from Class 5 to 6, Class 8 to 9, and Class 10 to 11. The initiative is designed to keep students connected with the education system and prevent discontinuation of studies.

Focus on Pending Projects and Infrastructure Development

The state government has directed authorities to complete the transfer and adjustment process of government teachers in a transparent and time-bound manner. Pending payments under the Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI schemes must be cleared by June 30. Officials have also been instructed to speed up projects under Project Alankar, along with the construction of new mini stadiums and 44 indoor mini stadiums.

Laboratories, Attendance and Academic Activities Under Review

Education officials have been asked to verify laboratory equipment and ensure all laboratories are fully operational. Schools must strictly follow the academic calendar, conduct regular classes and assessments, and maintain online attendance records. Parents of students with prolonged absences will be contacted to encourage regular attendance. Programmes such as Dream Lab, Project Praveen and internship activities for B.Ed students will continue as planned.

Unsafe School Buildings to Be Declared Abandoned

In view of the monsoon season, authorities have been directed to identify dilapidated school buildings and mark them with red warning signs. Such structures will be declared abandoned and their use will be strictly prohibited to ensure student safety. District Inspectors of Schools will also conduct monthly virtual meetings with principals to review teaching activities, attendance records and vocational education programmes.
